Both Freire and Gatto have similar views on what is the proper way to school a student, and what the unproper ways are. Obviously they both disagree on the ways our schools go about teaching, they show that instead of teaching our students to become true individuals we transform them into monotonous dictionary's full of knowledge but with no clue what the knowledge really means.
"Education must begin with the solution of the teacher-student contradiction, by reconciling the poles of the contradiction so that both are simultaneously teacher and students." - Freire. He describes that in order to teach you must be willing to be taught, instead of domination over the student as if your the only one who knows anything in the classroom.

adventure, resilience, the capacity for surprising insight - simply by
being more flexible about time, texts, and tests, by introducing kids
to truly competent adults, and by giving each student what autonomy he
or she needs in order to take a risk every now and then." -Gatto. Gatto shows that in order to educate a person you dont need to force a test or an assignment on them and have a required date for it to be completed, you simply need to show them that they are capable of completing.it and doing a good job.
I believe that Gatto and a Freire had similar beliefs about our educational system, the way things must be changed, and how we must teach our students to be individuals instead of plain, black and white human beings.
I guarantee Gatto and Freire would have a long, understanding debate on our educational system today if they met each other!
