What Makes Mr. Escalante a Good Teacher

     I believe that Mr. Escalante was a very thorough teacher. He involved himself with every individual student in particular the students that where struggling. He was constantly trying to prove to the students that they are indeed smart and, if they are willing to learn, can pass his class and earn college credits. Mr. Escalante wanted to prove to the other teachers that the students are able to learn, "its not that they're stupid its just that they don't know anything", he shows that as long as the students learn algorithms and basic math they can excel in his class and studies. 
    Mr. Escalante was very involved in his students, he made learning fun and competitive,  constantly making jokes and mocking them to pressure them into learning. At one point of the movie he pressured a slacking kid to answer a very basic question, the student knew the answer but was afraid of sounding intelligent  eventually Mr. Escalante got the answer out of him and you could see a look of satisfaction on the students face. 
     Mr. Escalante also had faith in his students above other professors, "the students will rise to the expectations you set for them" other professors doubted the student and didn't believe they had the motivation or drive to learn "our kids can't handle calculus" and "you cant teach algorithms to illiterates" where phrases mentioned by other teachers, Mr. Escalante wanted to prove them wrong.
